OUR COASTAL TREASURE
Plant Life in the greater St Francis area
The following is a mere introduction to just some of the many magnificent plants that can be seen as you explore our Cape St Francis Nature Reserve, the Seal Point Nature Reserve, Irma Booysen Flora Reserve and The Community Garden. Not only within these reserves will you see some of these plants but also on the The Two Harbours Walk as well as around our village.
With over 400 different species of plants found in the Greater St Francis Area, we have selected just a few that you will immediately notice as you explore our incredible area. The South African Biodiversity Institute have red-listed some of our local plants and the relative status is shown where applicable. This means that they are Species of Conservation Concern. Photos of those plants that flower at specific times have been divided up into flowering months while the trees (including some thicket shrubs) are merely listed.
Click on one of the following links for an introduction to some of the plants you may see, bearing in mind that flowering seasons overlap.
